VEGAS

Heading to Vegas tomorrow morning for some wild times con mis amigos! I'm excited to experience all that Vegas has to offer, and hope that I come back married to a stripper, without my lateral incisor, with $80,000 worth of chips in my satchel, and a great encounter with a tiger & Mike Tyson. Wish me luck!

Favorite Superbowl Commercials

Went to Marmol's friend's apartment today to watch they game. A few of the guys there also went to the University of Delaware, but they graduated when I was a freshman. It was nice to be around Delaware people though, since this was the first year I would be celebrating the Super Bowl without all my Del friends. Boo! None of the commercials really did it for me, but here are a few memorable ones that I enjoyed.

Honda - Matthew's Day Off: How can you not love this Ferris Bueller's Day off themed commercial? Classic.

Sketchers - GO RUN Mr. Quiggly: Loved the sneakers on the dog, the fact that his name was Mr. Quiggly, and his moon walk across the finish line.

Teleflora: She's so perfect, it's not fair! She's my favorite Victoria's Secret model though; therefore, this commercial was one of my favorites.

H&M: David Beckham, enough said.

Volkswagon - The Dog Strikes Back: Loved this one.

E*Trade - Fatherhood: I love all of these talking baby commercials."Bobby, what are you doing man?" "I'm speed dating!"

Diddy

We went back to Diddy Riese tonight to celebrate the Giants' big win! This time I went for a more adventurous ice cream sandwich. I ordered cookies & cream ice cream with one chocolate chip cookie and one white chocolate chip cookie! The cookies were extra soft and gooey today, and it was the perfect way to end a perfect day. Go Giants! My heart will always be in New York.

Neverland

So, Hook is one of my absolute favorite movies. If you haven't heard of it, which I think is crazy, it's basically a spin off of Peter Pan, where Peter is all grown up and has forgotten about Neverland. In an attempt to get back at Peter Pan, Hook kidnaps Pan's children to force him into returning to Neverland. Throughout the course of the film, we watch as Peter Pan tries to remember who he is, how to fly, and we see him prepare for his epic dual with Captain Hook. Robin Williams plays Peter Pan, Dustin Hoffman plays Captain Hook, Julia Roberts is Tinkerbell, Maggie Smith is Grandma Wendy, and other well known stars such as Gweneth Paltrow, play smaller roles in the movie. The reason I am writing about this is because I met an actor from the movie the other day while I was working a temp job. He was one of the lost boys, most likely around 8 years old when this movie was released. Of course now, he is all grown up and no longer acting. He is working at a major investment firm out here in Los Angeles. Ready for who it is?

That's right, the ginger kid. I obviously didn't know it was him right off the bat; one of the other girls who has been working there for a while told me after he, Alex Zuckerman, came out and introduced himself to me. I nearly died after she told me, and knew exactly who, out of the lost boys, she was talking about. Apparently, he doesn't like it when people bring up the fact that he was in Hook, but I think it's awesome. If I were him, I would announce to the whole entire world, every single day, who I was. I wonder if he still knows Robin Williams or Julia Roberts?

In the film, his name is Latchboy, and here is one of his lines:

Peter Banning: Good form, old man.

[Hook traps Peter and grinds his hook near his face]

Captain Hook: You know you're not really Peter Pan, don't you? This is only a dream. When you wake up, you'll just be Peter Banning, a cold, selfish man who drinks too much, who's obsessed with success, and runs and hides from his wife and children!

If you love this movie as much as I do, you'll know exactly which scene this is and probably see it being played out in your head. Bravo, Latchboy! Bravo!

As I was looking for a picture of Latchboy, I came across this website of Where are the now? talking about all the actors that had roles in Hook. I appreciated how it said in the description of Latchboy, "The sole ginger of the Lost Boys." Love it.

I really hope that I get to work at this company again soon, so I can get this dude talking about his experiences filming Hook! I wonder if he even remembers it? I also have a strange desire to get his autograph, or at least his business card.

Venice Beach

Last week, I explored Venice Beach some more during my daily run on Santa Monica Beach. This time there were more vendors selling all sorts of souvenirs and other handmade crafts along the beach. There were stores as well that sold t-shirts, trinkets, sunglasses, hats, etc. There was even a few stores that sold "medical weed," maybe this is why the entire place smelled like pot. I still can't get over the fact that marijuana is semi-legal here, as long as you are prescribed it. There were a lot of odd people in Venice, some homeless, some just straight crazy. I saw this one man on a bicycle, go up to another man who was minding his own business, and screamed some unintelligible words at him while slapping and grabbing his own ass. Weird. A majority of the people inhabiting Venice Beach, were very eccentric and artsy. People with loud and strange outfits, dreadlocks, piercings, tattoos and other similar body art. I definitely felt a little out of place. Oh, and it was absolutely nothing like Venice, Italy. Venice, CA < Venice, Italy

Went back to The Grove tonight to see Daniel Radcliffe & Mario Lopez. This was the same place where I saw Jessie Williams, but this time it was way more crowded with screaming fans everywhere. Before Daniel Radcliffe Harry Potter even came out, people were pushing and shoving trying to get to the front, as close to the stage as they could get. I couldn't deal with all the snobby, annoying, teenagers, so I stood somewhat far away, on the other side of the set. Mario Lopez came out first and walked right past me, but I was too busy playing Temple Run to even realize it was him. I only realized when everyone started screaming and I saw him a few feet in front of me. Stupid iPhone! Some teenage girl next to me kept taking pictures of Lopez but then turned to me and said: "wait... who is that?" I responded with an "um Mario Lopez," and a dumbfounded look on my face. A few minutes later, this little boy in a leather jacket came out, that just so happened to be Daniel Radcliffe. You can tell he is a tiny person on screen but he is even more petite in real life. I am definitely double his size. I don't think Harry Potter is that cute, but he looked good with his scruff today! Good job Harry!


I couldn't really hear the interview too clearly because of all the screaming teenyboppers, but it was suppose to be about Daniel Radcliffe's new movie, Woman in Black, but of course it turned into a Harry Potter fest. Fans were asking him to repeat spells from the movies and if he knew any magic tricks, which he surprisingly did. I guess if acting stops working out for him, he could always become a magician. I'd sure hire him for my birthday, I mean my future kids birthday party. After the interview was over and Harry Potter tried to leave, it was chaos. The entire audience started sprinting after him and screaming for his attention. If only he had his broom stick, he could just fly away from it all. I seriously wanted to trip some of the people who were being rude and shoving me so they could grope Harry Potter.  Overall, it was very cool to see the one and only Harry Potter. I was just as excited to see Mario Lopez though because he's a total fox.

Celebrity Sighting!

Yesterday, I went to The Grove, which is basically an outdoor mall that is super popular. As I was walking in, I immediately saw Jessie Williams walking past me with a crew of security officials surrounding him. I obviously followed him and realized that Extra was being taped there and he was going to be interviewed. There weren't that many people crowded around the set, so I was able to get pretty close to the action. There was a section where you stood in front of the camera, but behind where the interview was taking place, and that is where I ended up. Hopefully I'll be seen on camera when that interview airs! 

I was snapping pictures of one of the hottest Grey's Anatomy stars, as he answered questions about the Superbowl - he's rooting for the Giants, if he is single - which he unfortunately is not, and many other questions about being on Grey's Anatomy and his career. Did you know he was originally a history teacher before he got into acting? The girls in his history class probably had the biggest crushes on him, I know I would have. His first big break was an episode of Law & Order and then what made him famous was being cast as Dr. Jackson Avery on the hit show Grey's Anatomy. It was pretty cool to be a part of the interview and see someone I watch on TV every Thursday night in real life. Tonight, Daniel Radcliffe is going to be interviewed at The Grove, so I might make my way over there to get a close up of Harry Potter himself!
