It was interesting to meet someone with such a crazy family story and someone who's family is the basis of a movie and an enormous political scandal. How often does that happen? What was funny about this situation was the kid was so open with everything! All I asked him was, "why he moved out to California" and then he told me it was because his dad was in jail (awkward), but then followed it up with the rest of the story. I honestly was speechless and had no idea what to say! I wanted to ask a billion questions, but didn't know what the appropriate response was. I'm pretty sure I just kept saying, "Wow, that's so cool," which it is of course. I unfortunately never got the boy's name, but I'm sure I could look it up somewhere. Regardless, he was a sweetheart and an overall great kid! I'm glad I got to know him a little bit.
There was also another movie made about the scandal but I don't think it is as big as Casino Jack. I'm definitely going to have to rent Casino Jack, so I can learn all about this affair. There were also a lot of books written about it, including one that Jack Abramoff wrote himself called Capital Punishment.
Jack Abramoff is listed under the "Top 5 White Collar Criminals of All Time."
